Jack Maples was an American police officer known for his innovative approach to fighting crime. He served as the deputy commissioner for crime control strategies in the New York City Police Department and was credited with reducing crime rates in the city in the 1990s through his data-driven and community-oriented policing strategies. Maples also authored the book "The Crime Fighter: How You Can Make Your Community Crime Free" and served as a consultant to police departments across the United States. He passed away in 1999 at the age of 47 due to complications from lung cancer.
